Love your sister’s Big Heart Project raises $2m

Love your sister’s Big Heart Project took place yesterday in Canberra, Third Sector were lucky enough to attend the incredible and bittersweet event.

The goal was to make a million dollar heart made out of 5 cents. This goal was exceeded with $2m raised and counting.

The charity was created by Gold Logie winner Sam Johnson for his terminal ill sister Connie. All money raised goes towards the charity’s goal of raising $10m to “kick cancer in the face hole”.

Thousands of Australian’s donated their 5 cent coins to the charity. Many supporters came down to the netball courts in Canberra to support the charity flashing pink shirts and hats.

The day was filled with laughter, tears, love and lots of pink.

Johnson wrote on Facebook, “We dreamed of a million dollar heart to match Connie’s million dollar heart.”
