Third Sector hosted its first NFP Leadership Forum with Ronni Kahn, Founder and CEO of OzHarvest.

The exclusive event included 26 guests, all at senior roles in Australia’s NFP sector.

Kahn shared some of her learnings, challenges and mistakes when creating and nurturing partnerships, in particular with corporates.

The leader spoke about the importance of good governance and the role of the board supporting an organisation. She emphasised on the importance of demonstrating shared values and clearly communicating what value the partnership can bring to each party. She continued by emphasising on the importance of measuring your impact and being able to demonstrate a tangible ROI to investors, treating it like any other business

Kahn said that people give to people before supporting a particular cause, so it is very important to speak at their level and find common interests, passions and values.

She asked that leaders and advocates of the sector stop referring to themselves as ‘not for profits’ but rather identify themselves with the term ‘for purpose’. This made the Third Sector team consider rebranding this series to the For Purpose Leadership Forum.

The private boardroom lunch was hosted by accounting firm William Buck.
