Starlight Children’s Foundation has been named one of ten of Australian organisations that are leading the direction and future of HR in Australia.

In a national workplace renewal campaign led by a future that works, leading groups were named for having a dynamic and inspiring outlook on why HR leaders need to have seats at the executive table and be responsible for major decisions.

Managing Director of global HR think-tank, Reventure, and lead researcher for a future that works, Dr Lindsay McMillan OAM, said it was a rare privilege to interview senior leaders from Australia’s Best in Class organisations.

“These leaders understand the direction and future of HR in Australia. Starlight Children’s Foundation has demonstrated it is continually identifying and implementing HR initiatives to lead staff, volunteers and organisations at large into the future.”

Other organisations showcased for Best in Class include PwC, Jetts Fitness, Cotton On Group, HESTA, Mercy Health, PepsiCo, AECOM and Arts Centre Melbourne.

The organisations demonstrate tangible solutions that are shaping the direction of HR in Australia across a range of industries, including the design of work, the role of both leaders and HR practitioners, flexibility in the workplace and emphasis on values.

CEO of Starlight, Louise Baxter, said Starlight was delighted to be recognised for its efforts and selected as one of Australia’s best organisations for HR.

“At Starlight, we are committed to values alignment. Through our leadership, we have reinforced that it is about the journey not just the destination. Our people are personally invested with Starlight’s purpose,” Baxter said.

“The benchmark for success for our organisation, which employs 360 people and has 2,700 volunteers, is having a fully engaged team. We are so proud to achieve such strong engagement scores of 96 per cent and to be profiled in Best in Class.”

Baxter said the Best in Class awards demonstrated that high achieving roles are now more ‘people focused’ and offers practical solutions for positioning HR leaders to gain and retain a seat at the executive table.

“These solutions have been tried and tested in Australia’s best organisations. They provide a way forward for other people leaders to emulate in their own organisations.”
