ANZ Foundation awards record $442,000 to Australian charities

ANZ

ANZ has awarded $442,000 in grants to 27 Australian charities through its ANZ Community Foundation, aiming to advance initiatives in financial well-being, housing, environmental sustainability, and related community support projects.

This funding represents the foundation’s largest distribution in history, with grants allocated across multiple states and territories, including Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Tasmania.

The ANZ Community Foundation, funded by ANZ employees with a 2-for-1 match by the bank, has distributed over $7.6 million through 978 grants since 1988. The 2024 grants, ranging from $5,000 to $30,000, will enable these organisations to provide essential services and innovations that directly benefit their communities.

ANZ Community Foundation Chair Christine Linden emphasised the foundation’s mission of empowering communities. “The work of the Foundation goes to the heart of ANZ’s goal to shape a world where people and communities thrive. This year, we are pleased to have increased both the number of grants and the value of funds distributed,” she stated. “I am always inspired by the creativity and commitment of our grant recipients, who continue to make a significant impact in their communities.”

Among this year’s grant recipients is Youngcare, a Brisbane-based organisation dedicated to supporting young Australians with high care needs. Youngcare CEO Greg Johnson highlighted the importance of the funding, noting, “This funding from the ANZ Community Foundation will have an immediate impact. The grants will provide one-off funding for equipment, home modifications, as well as essential support and respite.”

Johnson added that the ANZ Community Foundation’s continued support has fostered lasting changes for young Australians with disabilities, increasing their independence and dignity.

Applications for the 2025 grant round will open early next year, offering another opportunity for community organisations to secure funding for impactful projects.
