The competition will take place as part of the NDIS New World: Disability in the 21st Century Conference and Trade Show, held at the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre, from 27-29 October 2015.

Australian start-ups, with ideas to assist people with disability, are invited to submit an online entry, between 4 and 21 September. Three finalists will be shortlisted to pitch at the Conference.

David Bowen, Chief Executive Officer of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), said the NDIS ‘New World Pitch’ was an opportunity to partner with Social Traders and encourage forward thinking start-ups to consider the technology needs for people with disability.

“‘NDIS New World Pitch’ will encourage start-ups to think about real solutions and technological inventions in the disability sector.

“It will also provide three leading start-ups with unrivalled access to an engaged audience of 1500 conference participants, including representatives of leading technology organisations,” Mr Bowen said.

Managing Director for Social Traders, David Brookes, said ‘NDIS New World Pitch’ fits perfectly with its mission to support the growth of social enterprise in Australia.

“The competition is looking for forward-thinking start-ups that use innovative and effective technology to transform the lives of people with disability, their families and carers. Already, interest is building and we are excited and optimistic about what might be uncovered,” Mr Brookes said.
