The Climate Council’s Cities Power Partnership has joined forces with energy and emissions reporting platform Azility to help councils track and drive down emissions and energy usage.

Cities Power Partnership member councils will now have free access to Azility, formerly known as Planet Footprint, to easily track and report on clean energy and water projects.

Rikki Papesch, General Manager, Azility said that the reporting platform is a game-changer for councils.

“Councils manage the energy consumption for dozens of buildings – a resource, time and money black hole,” he said.

Azility automatically extracts data from utility bills, spitting out energy consumption and emissions information. It’s a powerful way for councils to monitor and take control of their energy costs.

Azility is already working with 120 councils across Australia who are reaping the benefits of the streamlined platform. Cities Power Partnership councils will now be able to measure, verify and report on their clean energy projects – everything from projected and actual cost savings to resource and emissions savings.

David Craven, Director of the Cities Power Partnership, said that partnering with Azility was a no-brainer.

The Cities Power Partnership exists to elevate and accelerate climate action within cities and towns across Australia. Strong data and reporting capability for councils means more opportunities to share climate and energy project wins to the community.

“Having more data backing emissions reduction initiatives also means efforts to lobby the federal government to support local government climate action can be amplified,” Craven said.

The Cities Power Partnership is a free national program created by the Climate Council that celebrates and accelerates the pollution reduction and clean energy successes of Australia in towns and cities.
