250 guests across the property and construction industry gathered at Howard Smith Wharves for the Property Industry Foundation’s (PIF) fourth annual Brisbane Charity Gala.

By the end of the evening, PIF had raised over $30,000 to contribute funds to their current project – PIF House Brisbane, which is the refurbishment of an existing 3-bedroom house in Brisbane’s inner-north, as well as the construction of 3 x 1 bedroom apartments and 3 x 2 bedroom apartments.

Renowned Australian comedian Mary Coustas, better known as her legendary alter ego Effie, hosted the Gala ahead of her upcoming tour and kept guests in stitches.

PIF Queensland Chairman Greg Clarke said the night was a great success, and that the funds raised will make a significant difference by helping provide shelter for homeless families and youths.

“The support of the property and construction industry is invaluable in fighting against Australia’s persistent problem of youth homelessness,” Clarke said.

For every dollar raised during the Gala, Clarke said they are able to turn that into two dollars of building project goods and services. With construction set to start on PIF House Brisbane in the early next year, the organisation is maintaining a momentum for those who truly need it.

Every night across Australia over 44,000 young people are homeless. The PIF House program provides those affected with a safe place to sleep and much needed support to take their place back in the community and transition to independent living.

“Even though this is one of our last events for the year, we won’t be slowing down, we are still accepting in-kind donations for PIF House Brisbane and would greatly appreciate any item contributions,” Clarke said.
