Mable community launches new philanthropic arm to support inclusivity

Profit-for-purpose company, Mable, announced the launch of ‘Mable Community Grants’, a philanthropic arm funding people and projects that promote independence and inclusion for people with disability and ageing Australians.

The community grants initiative will see funding available to successful organisations and applicants that are working toward improving inclusivity in Australia, relating to at least one of the following areas; the arts, sport and recreation, or business and technology.

The grants provide a platform for the community to be a catalyst for change they most want to see in society.

To celebrate the launch, Mable Community Grants will hold a live streaming of the emotive and poignant documentary, No Distinguishing Features, produced by inaugural grant recipients Hamish Gibbs Ludbrook and Kevin Roberts.

The film celebrates the stories of six people with disability and their achievements in various fields across Australia and New Zealand.

Director Hamish Gibbs Ludbrook said the Mable Community Grants funding was crucial to his and Kevin’s ability to complete the story they had always wanted to tell: “We were inspired to create a platform for people with disabilities to relay their stories of success, love and resilience, empowering them to tell of their journeys while educating the wider community about some of the issues people with disability may face daily.”

“We’re so thankful to have received the grant from the Mable Community Grants program, which allowed us the resources to complete the final stages of this documentary and give these incredible peoples’ stories the time and detail they deserve. Meeting the extraordinary individuals who agreed to take part in this project has changed our lives and we believe this film will have a similar effect on all those that see it,” Gibbs Ludbrook added.

Peter Scutt, CEO and Co-Founder of Mable said a grants program had been in the works for some time, as community inclusivity for the platforms’ users is paramount to the Mable mission: “Here at Mable we are on a mission to bring people together to enable unique and inclusive lives filled with opportunity. Our new charitable arm exists to support that mission and fund innovative projects andpeople that are focused on fostering true inclusivity”.

We can’t wait to see what creative and innovative projects the next round of Australians choose to put forward in their grant submissions.” added Peter.

Submissions are now open and close 16 October 2020 for Mable Community Grants 2021.

Grants will be awarded to Australian people or projects who support Mable’s vision to create an inclusive society where everyone belongs, with successful applicants receiving anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 per year.
