The founder of a Queensland horse welfare charity insists she will be cleared of “stupid rumours” after police raided the organisation’s four sanctuaries.

Save a Horse Australia, a not-for-profit organisation founded by Amanda Vella in 2001, has been the subject of a Queensland police and Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission investigation amid allegations donations from the public were mismanaged.

“I can’t even explain to you the heartache and stress I am personally going through at the moment, however I will not back down to these incredibly nasty people,” the charity posted on its Facebook page after police released details of the raids.
