Applications open for Our Neighbourhood Grants

Established in 2013 by Australia Post, the Our Neighbourhood Grants program recognises the important role smaller charities and community groups play in bringing people together and helping local communities thrive.

For the first time, small businesses who are driving employment, strengthening local connections and finding new and innovative ways to get things done can also apply for a grant.

Australia Post General Manager Community Relations, Andrea Pearman said Our Neighbourhood Grants focus on supporting businesses and organisations that often get overlooked for funding elsewhere.

“We believe in the power of communities. It’s the things happening in our streets and neighbourhoods that often have the biggest impact, so we understand the importance of supporting local projects that help bring people together,” says Pearman.

“We’re extremely excited to be extending our funding this year to small businesses, to help them implement ideas and initiatives that will help them grow and positively impact the communities they operate in.”

Some of the Our Neighbourhood Community Grants and Small Business Grants will be funded by the Our Neighbourhood Trust, Australia Post’s public charitable fund, as well as funding directly from Australia Post.

Grants will be awarded on the following:

  • Digital Capability: projects that build digital skills for individuals and the wider community
  • Employment Pathways: projects that increase employment opportunities for marginalised Australians
  • Community Inclusion: projects that build community spirit and foster inclusion
  • Disaster Readiness: projects that help communities better prepare for natural disasters
  • Our Neighbourhood Small Business Grants will provide funding to eligible businesses that have fewer than 15 employees and can demonstrate growth and collaboration with local communities.

Our Neighbourhood Grants are now open and will close on Thursday, 2 April 2015.
