Aussies are being urged to get silly for a serious cause and donate to the 34th Red Nose Day

It’s Red Nose Day! Double your donation through our matched giving appeal, rock a red nose and donate now.

In the wake of new Australian Government data that shows an increase in the number of baby deaths, including those who have died from stillbirth (2,997 up from 2,946 the previous year), Red Nose Day is needed now more than ever.

“We’re asking Australians to please give generously on Red Nose Day so that we can continue to meet this unprecedented demand for our support services.” said Keren Ludski, Red Nose Australia’s CEO.

Red Nose Australia’s major online fundraising appeal is now being backed by a group of generous supporters and philanthropists who are matching every online donation dollar-for-dollar, meaning every $1 you donate at will now turn into $2.

Red Nose provides 24-hour counselling and support services for parents who are grieving the loss of a baby or miscarriage. Funds received will also support vital research, awareness, and prevention projects that will help Australia reach its goal of having zero babies dying of preventable causes in Australia. This includes helping fund Red Nose’s new $100,000 SIDS prevention research grant.

Since Covid restrictions were first introduced across Australia in 2020, Red Nose has experienced a surge in requests for support from families who have lost a beloved baby during this difficult time. From March 2021 until April 2022 they:

  • Delivered more than 22,147 support sessions to devastated families whose baby or young child died – up 8% from the previous year. These sessions include, phone calls to their 24/7 support line, Walks to Remember, wellbeing activities, and more.
  • Delivered 3,417 Treasured Babies items to families whose babies had died – up 9% from the previous year.

With Little Rockers Discos happening at more than 500 childcare facilities around Australia, the nation’s youngest fundraisers are rocking out in celebration of Red Nose Day. Volunteers are out in force around Australia, selling the traditional red noses from shopping centres and train stations. Support them by shopping for limited-edition retro Red Nose Day reusable shopping bags, beanies, and socks.

“Please donate to Red Nose Day if you can, because every dollar makes such a difference.”
