Villaworld Homes by AVID Property Group held its seventh annual Golf Classic charity fundraising day at Links Hope Island, raising $100,000 for MATES in Construction (MATES) and Act for Kids.

In its longstanding partnership with the charities, Villaworld Homes, with the support of generous construction industry sponsors, has contributed more than $540,000 towards the valuable work of MATES and Act for Kids.

AVID General Manager Housing, Peter Wood said the annual event was a resounding success, with the Villaworld Homes team and its partners eager to take a swing to support two charities that are making a difference.

“It’s been a challenging couple of years for individuals and families that has seen a growing demand for mental health services1 and increases in reports of child abuse, which sheds light on how crucial these two organisations are,” Mr Wood said.

“The money raised from the annual Villaworld Homes Golf Classic goes towards supporting MATES and Act for kids in helping construction workers at risk of suicide, and children at risk of abuse and neglect.

“The work of MATES and Act for Kids resonates deeply with AVID, Villaworld Homes, and all our contractors and suppliers, and it is the perfect partnership that allows us to make a small difference to our workforce and their families.”

Villaworld Homes by AVID hosted more than 160 of its suppliers and subcontractors for the Golf Classic, handing over a cheque of $50,000 to each of the charities after a day on the green.

MATES Founder and Queensland CEO John Brady said the ongoing support of AVID over many years has provided boots on the ground to support construction workers and their families who have been doing it tough.

“MATES provides its services for free into the construction industry so the generosity of AVID has allowed us to not only continue but to expand so we can support
more companies and their workers. This donation literally saves lives,” added Brady.
