Grace Wearne has been appointed as GoFundMe’s second hire in Australia to support Australians turning to one of the world’s largest social fundraising platform to donate to and fundraise for causes they care about.

Wearne joins GoFundMe as Communications Associate and will focus on helping coach campaign organisers to reach their goals and managing the GoFundMe press office. Grace previously spent two years at tech PR agency Sling & Stone.

The announcement comes four months after GoFundMe opened the doors of its Australian office, appointing Nicola Britton as Regional Manager. Speaking of Wearne’s hire, Britton says: “GoFundMe is rapidly becoming synonymous with helping others. In the few short months since joining the company, I have spoken to hundreds of passionate Australians who are turning to GoFundMe to tap into their networks and raise over $200 million dollars for causes they care about. It’s been phenomenal and it’s clear this momentum isn’t slowing down”

“The passionate individuals using our platform are at the heart of what we do at GoFundMe. There’s a huge opportunity to extend professional support to help thousands more individuals tell their stories to a broader audience,” she said.

From supporting drought affected farmers to rapid-response financial relief for victims of natural disasters and medical emergencies, Britton said Australia is proving time and time again to be one of the most giving nations in the world.

On joining GoFundMe, Wearne commented: “My passion for technology as an enabler of positive social change makes this role an incredibly exciting one for me to step into. It is a privilege to be able to help campaign organisers harness the power of storytelling and their networks to raise funds for personal causes, as well as some of the most pressing issues facing Australian society today.”

Grace will be based in the Sydney office alongside Nicola Britton.
