GoodCompany launches Best Workplaces to Give Back in 2019

With unemployment stuck at a low 5%, the ‘war for talent’ in corporate Australia is still at an all-time high. Thankfully on the front line in this war are Matched donations, Volunteer Leave, Charity Gift Cards, Fundraisers and Workplace Giving.

These pro social weapons are winning the battle; attracting, retaining and engaging the heads and hearts of workers. But which companies do this better than others? And who is the best?

To answer this question, GoodCompany is launching the Best Workplaces to Give Back in 2019, celebrating Australian companies that make a positive social impact via Team volunteering, Skilled volunteering, Fundraising, Donating, Sponsorship, Equal pay for equal work, Diversity and more.

This not only lights the way for talent to seek out companies that they want to work for and align with their purpose, but also assist consumers, impact investors, stakeholders looking to support purpose driven brands.

First launched in 2018, GoodCompany invited organisations from all sizes and industries to participate in a survey, explaining how they help their staff make a difference. GoodCompany experts, with help from external partners, assessed and ranked nominees using three main criteria: Impact, Context and Innovation. In 2018, the Top 10 Workplaces to Give Back were – IAG, Origin Energy, NAB, Westpac, Optus, Flight Centre, AECOM, ANZ, AGL and Small Giants.

CEO and Founder of GoodCompany, Ash Rosshandler, said, “professionals are looking for workplaces with meaning and purpose and giving something back.”

“Charities now have access to a serious database of which companies help, and how they help. For example, they can find that Origin Energy has uncapped matched giving and unlimited paid volunteer leave. And the second benefit for charities is they can now help their corporate supporter get famous for doing good by simply encouraging them to enter the award. It’s a virtuous circle,” said Rosshandler.
