Inspiring change

‘Change’ was the theme of this year’s event and this message was clearly demonstrated in the range of innovative speakers with inspired ideas.

International presenters Norma Galafassi, Rafael Lopa and Ted Hart were some of the most talked about speakers at the event, along with locals David Gonski, Louise Walsh and Nick Moriatis.

There was a significant emphasis on embracing new technology at the conference, with Jennifer Hiley discussing the opportunities for fundraising through the mobile phone (see page 32) and ePhilanthropy expert Ted Hart demonstrating best-practice online usage for not-for-profits (see page 34).

“The conference was brilliant. I learnt heaps, met some great people and also realised how much I know already (which is a good thing!),” said Denise Hagan, Chair of the Puuya Foundation.

FIA is also pleased with the results of the conference. “FIA couldn’t be happier with the success of the ‘Change’ conference and the quality professional development experience we were able to provide delegates and the sector,” said Event Manager Alys Baxter.

“As a membership organisation the priority for us with the conference is always about what the delegates take away with them. Hopefully everyone learned some new tricks to inspire them in 2009 and beyond.”
