Whiting’s appointment was announced by the Victorian Arts Minister Lynne Kosky, who said that the new President brought broad experience and strong strategic and analytical skills to Australia’s leading performing art institution.

“[Whiting’s] professional background, corporate governance experience and extensive involvement across the arts, cultural and tourism sectors will lead the Arts Centre through the important next stage of its development.”

A commercial lawyer, Whiting has been actively involved in the not-for-profit sector for many years, particularly in the areas of arts and health. Her current roles include Deputy Chairman of the Victorian Major Events Company and a Director of the Royal Women’s Hospital.

Kosky also acknowledged the significant contributions of the outgoing President. “For almost a decade, Carrillo Gantner has led the Arts Centre Trust with great insight, enthusiasm and a tireless passion for the performing arts.”
