The most recent recipients will attend a major conference, undertake fundraising training and develop their skills in training and assessment of the scholarships.

ASI Asia Pacific Managing Director and fund chair Paul Ramsbottom said “The December 2008 round was one of the most competitive in the fund’s three-year history.

“With a fresh $25,000 of funding available in 2009, we are looking forward to more scholarships, more smarts and more smiles,” he said.

Over 2008, ASI received applications totaling $70,000. There were 28 successful recipients, working for such organisations as the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, the Asthma Foundation of New South Wales, The Infants’ Home, Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, and Earthwatch Australia.

Scholarship applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, or have permanent residency, and be either full time or permanent part time employees at a not-for-profit organisation. A maximum of $2,000 per individual is available for studies directly relevant to the applicant’s professional development in the sector.
