The Yoga For Good Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that’s giving back to the yoga community by beginning the new year with a round of grants as well as their Good Yoga Day retreat.

Yoga teachers and yoga organisations from across Australia are invited to apply for funding for initiatives that will do good in their community.

In the past, the Foundation has funded a range of projects from retreats for domestic violence survivors and trauma-informed yoga courses to community festivals and research into the scientific benefits of yoga.

“Good Yoga Day is also a wonderful opportunity to bring people together- something we’re all still really craving after being socially distanced and restricted for so long, said Moira Gordon, Yoga For Good Foundation Director.

The grants portal will open on 30 January and will be accepting grant applications for five weeks.

The Good Yoga Day event will be held on 26 February at Heart & Soul Retreats in Otford, NSW. Classes and workshops will be led throughout the day by some of Australia’s leading yoga minds and teachers such as Simon Borg Olivier and Dr Swami Shankardev Saraswati.

Attendees will experience a dynamic masterclass, DRU yoga, playful yoga and a sound healing session.

Gordon highlighted that the Foundation is starting 2023 off as they mean to continue: by giving back to the community. The event is heavily subsidised by the foundation.

“As a foundation, our whole mission is to create opportunities that will benefit communities and help people to live their best lives through yoga,” added Gordon.

“We want to give yoga teachers across Australia the opportunity to bring their communities together and give people the tools they need to deal with whatever challenges they’re facing- whether that be impacts from the pandemic, the cost-of-living crisis, mental health challenges and any of the number of other roadblocks that we all face at various points in our lives. That’s what the grants program is all about.”
