Australian charities with projects that enhance the quality of life for children are now able to apply for $50,000 funding from Newmans’s Own Foundation.

The Newman’s Own Foundation will be giving over $1.3 million to Australian charitable causes in 2016 through a range of giving programs.

Newman’s Own Foundation’s CEO and President Robert Forrester started the 2016 grants program by giving $130,000 to two children’s’ charities.

One grant is for Children’s First Foundation’s Miracle Miles program, which brings overseas children to Australia for urgent medical treatment. The second grant is for Queensland’s children’s hospice, Hummingbird House.

Newman’s Own Foundation was established by actor and philanthropist Paul Newman.

Forrester said that Newman was always deeply committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged children.

“Paul Newman believed we all have the opportunity to improve the lives of others and he wanted to make a difference, especially for children with life-limiting conditions around the globe,” said Forrester.

“The Foundation is delighted to be able to continue Paul’s philanthropic legacy by providing support to enhance the lives of children who are challenged by illness and/or disadvantage.”

Applications for funding will be open from 14 April – 13 May.
