Youngcare announces resignation of CEO Anthony Ryan

After more than five years helping change the way young people with high physical support needs live, Youngcare CEO Anthony Ryan has announced his resignation.

Youngcare’s greatest achievement in the past five years has been working seamlessly with the government, the National Disability Insurance Agency and investment partners to secure an exciting pipeline of disability housing throughout Australia. As a result, Anthony believes the time is right to transition the leadership to a new visionary CEO who can ensure more young Australians with high physical support needs have the freedom to live where and how they want.

“The time is right for the organisation to find its next CEO. As a team, we’ve achieved so much in what seems like such a short time, including creating a strong platform for Youngcare’s continued growth and transitioning our not-for-profit to a more commercially sustainable organisation.

“What I’m most proud of is that we’ve elevated the voice of young people with high care needs to a national scale — evolving the conversation around what it means to live a young life,” Ryan said.

Youngcare Chair Mr Paul McLean said, “Anthony has been instrumental in Youngcare’s success, and we are thankful for his outstanding leadership over the last five years.”

“He has successfully built trusted relationships with government, the disability sector, and our supporters, to ensure that young people with high care needs across this country can live with choice and control of their lives,” Mr McLean said.

“Anthony has worked tirelessly to lay a strong foundation across all aspects of Youngcare’s operations, and the organisation remains well-served by a highly experienced and committed team and a stable Board that will continue to work closely with the new CEO to set a strategic path, and deliver for our beneficiaries. It will be business as usual for us as we manage this change.

“Importantly, Anthony’s association with the organisation will continue, as he has agreed to join the Youngcare Board in the New Year,” McLean adds.

“As we have been discussing this potential change for some time, the process to identify Anthony’s replacement has already
started,” Mr McLean said.
