Andrew Tyndale joins Good360 Australia’s Board

Good360 has welcomed Andrew Tyndale to its Board.

Mr Tyndale has 26 years’ experience in leading commercial investment banking groups and has extensive public and private board experience.

Since 2008, he has been leading Grace Mutual Limited and is currently assisting one of the working groups for the G8 TaskForce on Social Impact Investing. Mr Tyndale is also a director of social and disability housing developer, Sustain Community Housing, and Chairman-elect of The Funding Network.

“Andrew brings a great depth of experience in commercial and investment banking, coupled with enormous focus on the social sector. He recognises the unique solution we provide to business by connecting excess product to people in need and wants to be part of the team creating this change in Australia,” said Alison Covington, Managing Director and founder of Good360 Australia.

Mr Tyndale said that he is honoured to be joining Good360, just as it launches its new platform, the GivingPlace.

“I love capturing goods, which would otherwise become landfill, and making them available to charities of all types.”

“The leverage of linking the final beneficiaries back through the giving chain to the corporate donor is a great component of the GivingPlace. It is going to be an exciting time, as we build this key piece in Australia’s charity infrastructure.”

ASRC Board welcomes Carolyn Creswell as Ambassador

Carolyn Creswell has been appointed as an Ambassador of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

Ms Creswell is the CEO of Carman’s and a business leader, named the 2007 Ernst and Young, Young Entrepeneur of the Year and Telstra’s 2012 Australian Business Woman of the Year. She is also a Board Member of the Human Rights Law Centre and an Ambassador for Smiling Minds.

“Several years ago, I heard Kon speak at a fundraising event and I was blown away with his passion, commitment and to learn about the incredible work of the ASRC happening on my doorstep,” said Ms Creswell.

“I believe Australia has really been resettling boat people since 1788. It seems unfathomable today that, with all the land and riches we have here, we can’t be more generous to these beautiful people in need.”

“It is a privilege and an honour to be an Ambassador for the ASRC and to help support the life changing work that they do.”

Australian Press Council welcomes Professor David Weisbrot as Chair

Professor David Weisbrot has been appointed Chair of the Australian Press Council.

Professor Weisbrot is Emeritus Professor of Law and Honorary Professor of Medicine at the University of Sydney. He is also a part-time Commissioner of the NSW Law Reform Commission, Vice-President of the Australian Academy of Law, a Member of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Garvan Institute’s Centre for Clinical Genomics and a member of the National Pro Bono Resource Centre’s Advisory Council.

Formerly, Professor Weisbrot was Dean of Law and then Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney.

He was President of the Australian Law Reform Commission for ten years, and was a foundation Member of the National Health and Medical Research Council’s Human Genetics Advisory Committee.

Professor Weisbrot has written or edited ten books, as well as over 200 official reports, journal articles and conference papers.
