Two high profile businesswomen will be joining the McGrath Foundation board, Christine McLoughlin and Suzanne Young.

“We are delighted to welcome experienced directors Christine McLoughlin and Suzanne Young, as we position the McGrath Foundation for growth. The increased size and diversity of our board will enable us to draw on their combined commercial acumen, credibility and contacts to assist us with fundraising to increase McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia,” said Chairman of the McGrath Foundation, John Conde.

“The ambitious five year strategic plan rolled out by our CEO, Petra Buchanan, gives the McGrath Foundation a strong basis for increasing our fundraising substantially over the coming years to meet the rising need for care. The new appointments will help lay the foundation for this expansion.”

Former Telstra Businesswoman of the Year, McLoughlin, is a company director with experience across a range of sectors, including financial services, insurance, resources, telecommunications, health and education.

McLoughlin’s current directorships include the Suncorp Group Limited, Whitehaven Coal Limited, nib Holdings Ltd and Spark Infrastructure Group Ltd. She is also the chairman of Stadium Australia and a member of Chief Executive Women.

“Like so many Australians, I have a deep personal connection with breast cancer through both family and friends and understand what an important role a McGrath Breast Care Nurse plays with families, especially in rural and regional areas and I am privileged to have the opportunity to contribute as a director of the McGrath Foundation,” McLoughlin said.

Suzanne Young, the second new McGrath board member, is the Executive General Manager, Operational Partnering, at IAG.

Young currently serves on The University of Sydney Business School board of advice and the St Joseph’s College Foundation board as chair of the Indigenous Education committee.

“I am delighted to join the board of the McGrath Foundation, as I feel it is so important for us in the business world to lend our expertise to those that are empowered to make a difference in the community,” said Young.

Departing from the board will be Ken Moran who joined the McGrath Foundation board in April 2008.

“A personal supporter of the Foundation, Ken has volunteered his time on the board over the past eight years and we thank him for his dedication working with the team to realise the vision of McGrath Breast Care Nurse services in Australia and we are looking forward to his on-going support, outside of his previous board responsibilities,” said Conde.
