The guide is an essential resource for not-for-profit boards where conflict of interest issues amongst board members can arise, providing a policy framework for how to respond if they do.

“One of the fundamental responsibilities of board members is to always act in the best interests of the charity and in a way that furthers its charitable purpose,” writes ACNC Commissioner Susan Pascoe in her introduction to the guide.
“There may be times when a personal interest can come into conflict with this responsibility, but through good governance, these conflicts can be identified and resolved, or even prevented.”

Features of the guide include:

  • About conflicts of interest
  • How to identify conflicts of interest
  • Quick tip – the impartial observer test
  • How to prevent or minimise the impact of conflicts of interest
  • How to manage conflicts of interest once they are identified
  • Annexure A – Template conflict of interest policy
  • Annexure B – Template register of interests

For more information and to download the guide, head to the ACNC website.
