Bids for Beds is pledging $100,000 to support Ronald McDonald House Charity – Sydney on March 18th 2023.

This event will see real estate auctioneer Jack Harris set a new record for the number of houses sold in a single Saturday by an individual auctioneer – completing 10 auctions across Sydney.

With the aim to raise over $100,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charity – Sydney (RMHC), funds will go towards helping seriously ill children in Australia to be with their families through treatment.

Jack Harris, Managing Director and Auctioneer for Fox Auctions and Co-founder of Bids for Beds created the event to build awareness and raise funding for the charity after spending an evening at the Ronald McDonald House in Randwick.

“I was incredibly moved by the children I met at the house; they are brave kids who are going through the unthinkable. I could see how important the place was for boosting morale and supporting families. It’s a worthy cause and I am committed to doing what I can to support them,” said Harris.

One hundred per cent of Jack’s fee along with a $1,000 donation from each real estate agent will go to the RMHC in Sydney. To take part in Bids for Beds auctioneers and agents from around Australia are encouraged to donate their profits from one auction on March 18th with all proceeds going to RMHC.

“Typically auctioneers complete one to three auctions per day, so I have set myself quite an ambitious goal of completing 10.”

“Australia’s real estate industry is worth a whopping $30.9 billion, if we can tap into a small portion of that figure, we will have an enormous impact. I encourage all agents and auctioneers to get behind this worthy cause and do their bit,” he added.

Each auction will host a family-friendly event – with fresh brewed coffee on-site, face painting, ice cream and, most importantly, donation points. Consumer fundraising will also be available on and offsite through various online platforms.

“Some of our families live thousands of kilometres away from their homes, so it is vital we are providing a nurturing and inviting space to create a home, away from home,” said Simone Daher, Ronald Mcdonald House Charities Sydney CEO.

“It costs $160 to cover one night’s stay and the much-needed donations go towards ongoing operational costs, providing food and wellbeing services and ensuring the home is well maintained,” she added.

With what started as a local charity event, Bids for Beds has garnered national traction to raise as much awareness and empower auctioneers and real estate agents from around the country to take part.

“We are so appreciative that charities like Bids for Beds are supporting us to help families in the hardest time of their lives.”
