< 1 min read

This year the 2011 Australian HR Awards had six organisations contending for the Employer of Choice for the Public Sector and Not-For-Profit (NFP) category. The organisations nominated for the award were: Break Thru People Solutions, City of Melbourne, Glen Eira City Council, Main Roads WA, RailCorp and Translink Transit Authority.

While all organisations were well-deserving of the award, Break Thru People Solutions was selected as the Employer of Choice in the NFP sector for 2011.

Break Thru helps people with employment, training and community services. Break Thru aims to change Australian society for the better by being more inclusive and accepting of diversity in the workplace. The organisation has over 700 staff nation-wide dedicated to helping some of Australia’s most disadvantaged citizens reach their full potential through a variety of programs and services.

Managing Director of Break Thru Ross Lewis said “It’s absolutely critical that we model the same diversity within Break Thru that we advocate. This means our workplace accommodates and encourages a rich variety of cultures, abilities and differences.”

Executive Manager of Human Resources at Break Thru Anita Le Lay said “This award goes out to all of our staff who passionately believe in our vision of being Australia’s leading diversity champion, courageously promoting the value, potential and inclusion of all people in their community.”
