The purpose of our association is to…

Support our members to provide professional, skilled, co-operative and compassionate services to vulnerable individuals, families, groups and communities.

Our members…

Deliver services across age, geographic, gender, religious, cultural and political divides to improve the lives and aspirations of individuals, families, groups and communities. Some of the occupation titles of our members are welfare worker, counsellor, domestic violence worker, community development worker, youth worker and aged care worker.

The biggest challenge our membership faces is…

The health and community services sector is the largest employer of Australians, yet has the least recognition in terms of its contribution to Australian society. We actively promote and enhance professionalism within the community services sector so that our members are recognised for their skill, experience, education and value to Australian society.

Member benefits include…

Industry advice and news, networking opportunities, training and professional development, discounts on products and services, advocacy and governance.

We advocate strongly for…

Recognition of the professionalism and experience required of community workers to work with highly complex individuals, families and communities. We advocate for high standards in education and training by promoting the importance of professional education requirements for community work graduates and the ongoing professional development of workers.

Our greatest achievement…

Having over 40 years of experience in advocating reforms against the treatment of disadvantaged people. These changes became the basis of modern human services practice in Australia.

Our events…

Vary in size and shape, and focus on providing members with networking and professional development opportunities locally and within their state or territory branch.

As an association it is important to…

Remain connected to and aware of our members’ needs so that we can provide them with the ways and means to better serve their clients.
