Latest appointments

The Governance Institute of Australia’s has announced Trisha Mok as its new President.

Mok is the third woman in the organisation’s 100 year history to be appointed as President and Chair of the professional association. Mok’s appointment is a true reflection of the changing nature of the Governance Institute.

“10 years ago only 10 per cent of the membership base was female. Today it’s 25.5 per cent – Trisha is an outstanding example of this change,” says outgoing President, Alan Evans.

“The governance, risk management and company secretary profession is fast becoming a rich source of future women leaders, proving there’s a path to the top other than line-management for talented women.”

A non-executive Director and Lawyer, Mok has significant experience in commercial law, corporate governance, digital and social media and intellectual property. Her passion lies in law and technology interaction.

Richard Royle has been elected as President of the Australian Private Hospitals Association (APHA).

UnitingCare Health’s Executive Director, Royle previously held the role of APHA Vice-President. He has more than 35 years of experience within the hospital industry and is actively involved in industry matters relating to the private hospitals’ sector. He first joined the APHA Board in 2005 and has served as Vice-President and Chair of APHA’s Policy Taskforce since 2006.

“In addition to being a great honour, I believe my appointment to this role is also recognition of UnitingCare Health as one of Queensland’s leading providers of healthcare, and our reputation of providing exceptional care to our patients and their families every day,” says Royle.

“This role gives me the opportunity to pursue important policy and advocacy tasks at a national level, as well as continuing to promote the positive contribution of private hospitals in Australia.

“I am proud to represent UnitingCare Health and around 300 other private hospitals across Australia.”

Royle is also a Board Member of the Wesley-St Andrew’s Research Institute and an adjunct Associate Professor at the Queensland University of Technology within the Faculty of Health.
