Ovarian Cancer Australia welcomes Jane Hill as CEO

Jane Hill has been appointed as Ovarian Cancer Australia’s incoming Chief Executive Officer and will take over from Marion Webster.

Hill is the former CEO of both the Stride Foundation and Fight Cancer Foundation, and will bring more than 20 years’ experience in the Australian not-for-profit (NFP) sector to her new position.

“We are extremely pleased that Jane is bringing to Ovarian Cancer Australia her expertise in strategy, stakeholder engagement, marketing and fundraising, together with her passion for our mission to save lives and ensure no woman with ovarian cancer walks alone,” said Paula Benson, Chair of Ovarian Cancer Australia.

The organisation also announced the appointment of three new Board Members; Tracey Curro, Jo-Ann Hicks and Sarah Adam-Gedge.

ECCV announces new Executive Officer: Dr Irene Bouzo

The Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria (ECCV) has appointed Dr Irene Bouzo as its new Executive Officer.

Bouzo began her work with the ECCV in 2008 as a Senior Policy Officer and Aged Care Policy Officer, working on key areas such as employment issues faced by multicultural Victorians and preserving the Racial Discrimination Act. She also previously held the position of Acting Executive Officer.

ECCV Chairperson, Eddie Micallef, said that Bouzo would bring a “wealth of knowledge and experience to the position”.

Bouzo will initially focus on advocacy, member engagement and community interaction.

Deirdre Cheers to lead Barnardos Australia

Barandos Australia has appointed Deirdre Cheers as its new CEO, following the retirement of Louise Voigt who held the position for 30 years.

Cheers was formerly with Barnados, and held senior management positions for 13 years. More recently she was Executive Director of CatholicCare in the Diocese of Broken Bay and Chair of the Association of Child Welfare Agencies.

Gabrielle Trainor, Chair of Barnardos Australia, expressed the organisation’s delight that Cheers has accepted the role.

“Deirdre will ensure continuity in our work in NSW and ACT and with her credentials and experience is in an excellent position to maintain our reputation and priorities. She will maintain our emphasis on child-centred, evidence-based welfare practice,” said Trainor.
