Meals on Wheels SA (MoWSA) has appointed Bill Coomans as their new President and Chair of the Board.

This position follows the retirement of long-serving MoWSA president and chair Leon Holmes AM.

Coomans has experience in policy, technology and public service. Coomans also represented Australia’s interests in radio communications, with an arm of the Geneva-based International Telecommunications Union (ITU). He was also State Manager of the Australian Communications and Media Authority ( ACMA) retiring in 2007.

Coomans already has experience with Meals on Wheels and chaired MoWSA’s WHS Volunteer Consultative Committee from 2014 – 2015.

“We are thrilled to have Bill on-board as the new President of Meals on Wheels in South Australia,” said Meals on Wheels SA Chief Executive Officer Sharyn Broer.

“Bill has great experience and knowledge across management, policy development and regulations. He has also served on many local government committees and been involved in community services for over 45 years.

“I look forward to closely working with Bill to steer our organisation, and the important community service we provide here in South Australia, well into the future.”

Meals on Wheels SA (MoWSA) is the largest community-based volunteer organisation in South Australia, with 88 branches located across the state. MoWSA has around 8000 volunteers and delivers on average over 4300 meals each day.
