The property industry-backed charity, Property Industry Foundation announce the appointment of their newest Board of Advisors member.

26 years since beginning her work with homeless and at-risk young people, Executive Director of Queensland Youth Housing Coalition, (QYHC) Lorraine Dupree has joined the Property Industry Foundation Board of Advisors, further supporting the Foundation’s important work in combatting Queensland’s youth homelessness crisis.

Dupree said she was excited to join an organisation that mirrors QYHC’s mission, doing such important work for some of the most vulnerable young people in Queensland.

“With QYHC and Property Industry Foundation being a natural fit, I’m delighted to join the Board and serve as a Patron of the Property Industry Foundation,” said Dupree.

“I began working with homeless young people in 1996 and as it still remains a significant issue in our community today, collaborations like this will only increase innovative and tangible solutions.

“I’m looking forward to working together on contemporary responses to homeless young people in Queensland and intervene early to interrupt what can be harrowing long term impacts of homelessness.”

Property Industry Foundation Queensland Chairman Greg Clarke said he was thrilled for Ms Dupree’s appointment, a fantastic opportunity for two passionate organisations to join forces and intensify their efforts in successfully ending youth homeless in Queensland.

“The Foundation has always perfectly positioned itself to make a real difference in the lives of Queenslanders and together with the support of Lorraine and her fantastic work at QYHC, our abilities will only be strengthened,” said Clarke.

“With continued support from our incredible Board of Advisors and the greater Queensland property industry, we will deliver more on the ground – more facilities for homeless young people, more upgrades to ageing stock and fundamentally, more bedrooms to house our homeless.

“We’ve been focusing a lot of our energy on planning for our major construction projects through the PIF House Program, and the funds raised will help make these projects a reality.”

Aiming to increase the availability of accommodation for youth homelessness, the Foundation have distributed nearly $30 million to youth homelessness causes over 25 years.
