< 1 min read

This year’s symposium, to be held in Melbourne on 19 October, covers a broad spectrum of issues faced in association management.

Dr Robert Fitzgerald, Commissioner of the Australian Productivity Commission which is assessing the contributions of the not-for-profit sector, will highlight the current issues confronting the sector and the opportunities that are emerging. He will further outline a proposed reform agenda that will improve relations between government, business and the sector and enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of the sector.

CEO of Community Information Strategies Doug Jacquier will look at the benefits and advancement of social media in an association context.

Damien Smith CEO of Enterprise Care will look at the results of the 2009 Annual NFP Remuneration Survey when discussing benchmarking employee salaries and maintain competitive rates to get the best people.

The sessions will be interactive, with question and discussion opportunities.

The symposium offers a day of stimulating sessions including:

  • Recent case studies in legal matters affecting small to medium not-for-profit associations in Australia. How to avoid the same mistakes.
  • Learn a new and simple Strategic Management Model. The simplest of tools that can focus your Board on what’s important.
  • Hear a brief report on the 2009 NFP Remuneration Survey in the NFP sector.
  • Join a leadership workshop on personality types on your Board and how to communicate with them. What is your colour?
  • Know and understand the 45 competencies of the accredited Association Manager – how do you rate?

The symposium will be held on Monday 19 October at Crown Towers Hotel, Melbourne.

As part of the symposium, a Progressive Networking Dinner will be held on Sunday 18 October at the Hilton Melbourne South Wharf and Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Discounted accommodation and room upgrades at the Hilton South Wharf are available for attendees.
