Withnall was previously the CBAA Board’s Financial Director. She is also Managing Director of Sydney community radio station 2SER, which presents a range of talk and specialist music programming aimed at servicing the needs and interests of the members of the wider Sydney community.

Randall echoed the Board’s sentiments through welcoming Withnall to the role.

“Melanie has made a valuable contribution to the Board as a general member and as Financial Director, and I’m confident that she will continue to do so as the CBAA’s Vice President.”

Casual vacancy: CBBA Board member wanted

As Withnall steps into her new role, the CBAA is seeking expressions of interest to fill the Board vacancy for a term ending November 2016 (at which time the Board member will be eligible to stand for election).

About the CBAA Board

The CBAA Board sets policy for, and oversee the affairs of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia. The Board members are Directors of Community Broadcasting Association of Australia Ltd – a company limited by guarantee. As Directors of the company, Board members have responsibility for the governance of the Association. The Board sets the strategic objectives of the organisation, holds a range of legal, corporate and governance responsibilities, represents the interests of members, develops sector policy and works towards the benefit and improvement of community broadcasting. As far as possible, the Board should be representative of all States and Territories of Australia, and of different types of community broadcasting interests.

About the role

This role requires a considerable time commitment, including attendance at meetings (Board members are asked to make every effort to attend all meetings), preparation time and travel, and more. Participation is on a voluntary basis, however the CBAA meets all travel and accommodation costs. We are seeking an experienced director with specialised skills that support the strategic goals of the CBAA.

How to apply

Interested directors are invited to submit a cover letter outlining how they meet any of the criteria outlined above, and what skills and experience they can bring to the Board, along with a copy of their CV to CBAA CEO Jon Bisset by 5pm AEDT on Thursday, 24 December.
