Grants of up to $5,000 are available for not-for-profit projects that benefit communities in rural, regional or remote Australia. Projects should contribute to the development of a community’s social and community welfare, economic, environmental, health, education or cultural areas. Priority is given to communities of 10,000 or fewer.

In addition to project funding, the SGRC program helps to build capacity in local communities by listening to project ideas and providing advice on writing a strong application, tailored feedback on applications, and leveraging our networks to refer applicants to other funding bodies.

This SGRC funding program (round 28) will close 8 October, 2015.

Common funding outcomes
The program funds a wide range of projects such as:

  • Community events and capacity building, such as volunteer training, support and development.
  • Providing communications equipment and enhancing infrastructure and systems, especially for emergency services organisations.
  • Repair and maintenance of small to mid-scale community infrastructure, such as public halls, schools and recreation reserves.
