Alex Makin has been appointed Chair of the Victorian State Council of the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI).

Makin has over 15 years marketing and communications experience. He was the youngest elected Mayor in Maroondah City Council in 2010 and served two terms in local government. Since 2009, Makin has been the Managing Director of Syneka Marketing, a strategic marketing agency based in South Melbourne.

Makin has been appointed to the Victorian State Council for a two year term commencing in November 2014.

“It is exciting to be able to help shape the future of marketing within Victoria and Australia. I look forward to strengthening the marketing profession in the years ahead”, Makin concluded.

Gillian Batt steps into the role of General Manager at Lane Cove and Northside Community Services.

Batt has served in both the not-for-profit and government sectors over the past 30 years both locally and in the UK. Her most recent role, prior to joining Lane Cove and Northside Community Services, was as Director of Cancer Information and Support Services and the Cancer Council NSW which she held for over ten years.
