New iron industry body in WA

Formed on 6 October, YIPA Inc’s aims are to:

• Promote community, indigenous and environmental achievement balanced with sustainable economic development in the region.
• Promote the interests of prospective and current iron miners located in the Yilgarn region of Western Australia.
• Promote the development of infrastructure.
• Promote the exploration and mining of iron.

Incoming YIPA Inc Chairman Gregory Bromley said that the co-operative development of rail and other infrastructure could turn the central Yilgarn into Australia’s next big iron ore powerhouse. This would have a significant economic benefit to the Yigarn-Goldfieds-Esperence area.

Bromley praised the inaugural members for their foresight and said the State Government is supportive of the formation of YIPA and keen to assist.
