Commission President Catherine Branson QC is encouraging nominations for the Awards, which recognise and reward efforts to protect human rights in Australia.

“These efforts impact on us all and ultimately contribute in some way to making Australia a safer and more inclusive society,” Commissioner Branson said.

“The annual Human Rights Medals and Awards is an opportunity to applaud their efforts and to say thank you.”

Nominations close on Monday 4 October, and winners will be announced at a Human Rights Day ceremony, on Friday 10 December 2010.
