Third sector appointments

Catherine Branson, who has led the Australian Human Rights Commission as President since 2008, will be stepping down at the end of July. She will be succeeded by Professor Gillian Triggs who is a distinguished and extensively published international lawyer with a strong foundation in human rights law.

Volunteering Victoria has appointed Sue Noble to the position of CEO. Noble has been CEO of Softball Australia for more than three years and has a background in business development for peak bodies. She has a personal interest in volunteering and volunteered at a wildlife park in Malawi earlier this year.

The Australia Council for the Arts has appointed Rupert Myer as Chair and Robyn Archer as Deputy Chair.

Myer was formerly Chairman of the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria Foundation and the Commonwealth Government Enquiry into the Contemporary Visual Arts and Craft Sector. In 2005 he became a Member of the Order of Australia for service to the arts and support to museums, galleries and the community through his involvement with a range of not-for-profit organisations.

Archer is a singer, writer, director, artistic director and public advocate of the arts. She is currently the Creative Director of the Centenary of Canberra and last year was Program Director for the 5th World Summit on Arts and Culture.
