Third sector staffing announcements

Federal Minister for Ageing, Mark Butler, has appointed Professor Peter Shergold as Chair of the Aged Care Reform Implementation Council.

The council will oversee the delivery of the Federal Government’s $3.7 billion ‘Living Longer. Living Better.’ aged care reform package announced in April.

Shergold is currently the Chancellor of the University of Western Sydney. He was formerly the Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet from 2003-2008 and has been a senior public servant for two decades.

Remaining members of the council will be announced soon.

Kristine Sargeant has been appointed CEO of Open Minds.

Stewart has 25 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector and has held senior positions for a number of mental health and disability organisations, including Macarthur Disability Services and the Richmond Fellowship NSW.

The CEO of Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia Jeremy Wright has announced his retirement and will finish up in his role in early 2013.

Wright has led the national research arm of MS Australia from its start-up in 2004 to its position as the peak body for funding and facilitation of multiple sclerosis research in Australia.
